A neighbourhood dining room with a wood fire at its heart.

How it started

A fire, a long table and good friends

We opened in 2016 in an old printing works, with one wood oven, twelve tables and a menu written on a chalkboard each afternoon.

Ten years on, the room is bigger but the idea hasn't changed: buy the best produce we can find, cook it simply over fire and look after every guest as if they were at our own table.

Most nights you'll find our team baking bread, breaking down whole fish and pouring wines from small makers we've come to know personally.

Marco Bellini

Marco grew up cooking with his grandmother and trained in Florence and London before coming home to open his own kitchen.

“I want food that tastes of where it comes from. If a carrot is beautiful, I'll roast it in the embers and get out of its way.”

What we believe

Three things we never rush

one

The season

We write the menu around what our 40 growers have at their best, so it changes every few weeks.

two

The fire

Almost everything passes over our ironbark fire, for flavour you can't get from gas.

three

The welcome

From the first glass to the last, our floor team are here to make the night easy.
